LOS ANGELES — The iconic World Warriors are officially returning to the big screen.
Following years of development, Legendary Entertainment and Capcom are preparing to unleash their highly anticipated live-action Street Fighter reboot, which is set to hit theaters globally on October 16, 2026. Directed by Kitao Sakurai (known for his work on the Twisted Metal series), the film boasts one of the most massive and eclectic ensemble casts of the year, blending established Hollywood stars with professional wrestlers and martial artists.
If you are wondering who will be throwing the Hadoukens, here is the official breakdown of the leading cast and the heavy hitter stepping into Chun-Li's boots.
Who is Playing Chun-Li?
The iconic role of Chun-Li, the lightning-fast Interpol agent on a mission to take down M. Bison's criminal empire, is being played by Callina Liang.
Liang, who previously appeared in the Apple TV+ series Foundation, went to extreme lengths to physically prepare for the physically demanding role. To accurately portray the martial artist, Liang underwent a grueling daily training regimen focusing on Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and Wushu. To build Chun-Li's signature leg strength, she adopted a rigorous bulking diet — consuming 12 eggs a day and eating every two hours — which ultimately increased the circumference of her thighs by 2.6 inches by the end of principal photography.
The Massive Leading Cast
Liang is joined by a massive ensemble to round out the classic video game roster.
The film's primary Ansatsuken martial arts duo will be portrayed by Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Andrew Koji as Ryu. The roster of villains is equally stacked, with David Dastmalchian stepping into the commanding role of the dictator M. Bison, and WWE superstar Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa'i taking on the dark, demonic mantle of Akuma.
The supporting cast is packed with surprising star power, pulling talent from the worlds of music, comedy, and professional wrestling:
- Jason Momoa as the electric beast, Blanka
- Cody Rhodes (WWE) as the American soldier, Guile
- Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as the heavy-hitting boxer, Balrog
- Vidyut Jammwal as the yoga master, Dhalsim
- Eric André as Don Sauvage
- Andrew Schulz as the joke-character, Dan Hibiki
- Mel Jarnson as Cammy
- Olivier Richters as the towering Russian wrestler, Zangief
With an incredibly diverse cast and a commitment to physically demanding action, Legendary's Street Fighter is shaping up to be a completely different beast than previous live-action attempts from the 1990s and 2000s.
